Every country big or small when attacked by an aggressive force fights back to protect its identity and freedom. And when time demands people of the country also stands with their army against the foreign aggression. That is exactly what had happened on 6th September 1965, when India attacked Pakistan.
Indian army because of its large number of soldiers were boasting and dreaming of capturing the city of Lahore within no time. That is why they attacked in full swing but all of their dreams shattered when they faced strong defensive stance of Pakistan army. Not only had this but a large number of civilians both in East and West Pakistan joined their army against the aggressive forces. The war was fought for many days and night and eventually Indian army had to step back.
In order to honor the martyrs of 1965 Indo-Pak war, every year 6th September is observed as Defence Day in Pakistan. This day the whole nation pays tribute to their national heroes in general and martyrs of 1965 war in particular. This day reminds us the importance of freedom and its cost to sustain it.
